According to LitExtension.com, Magento and WooCommerce are top two best eCommerce platforms in fist 6 months of 2015. Magento continues to hold the first position with a powerful eCommerce system, a large feature source. WooCommerce plugin is on the road to success to conquer user’s heart after 7 years of developing. 2015 is the boom year of WooCommerce and Wordpress. The number of WooCommerce site reaches a highest point (7.4% of all eCommerce stores).

What is the power for WooCommerce to be on an equal footing with Magento and compete in e-commerce?

Both Magento and WooCommerce have strengths and features for different needs and different segments. LitExtension does a small comparison between two platforms.

Magento

Magento interface is friendly for users on the basic level. There are a lot of tutorial videos and helps from communities to set up. However, everything becomes more difficult when adding extensions to site. Magento requires core knowledge in coding and development. Users need certain experiences to install and control Magento site.

WooCommerce

WooCommerce is a light platform, easy to add on WordPress and manage. Setting up is relatively simple. Developers can be available to choose and add many high plugins without worrying about difficulty of management. It is easy to use by individual of varying experience.

In my opinion, Woocommerce is better than Magento. Woocommerce is also a money saving option. Magento needs cloud or dedicated hosting that cost much. Though Woocommerce has some limitation but I like it more than Magento. Thanks for another great and useful article.

Wordpress is far better from a design point of view and the ease of customizations. Woocommerce will need a relatively expensive plugin on a per site basis to implement multiple product uploads an updates.
Overall Magento best for specific E-Commerce but lacks in ease of design customizations.

Woocommerce and Magento platforms have been the front runners for eCommerce website development. Despite the stark contrast in the underlying framework, these two platforms share some similar traits in terms of customer favoring features and customizablity.

With any e-commerce platform, you’ll need to be able to have a shopping cart facility and upload infinite products and categorize them. You get these basic features with WooCommerce and Magento. But which allows you to further customize your shop and give your customers extra facilities when buying from you?

Magento wins on this point. You’re able to cross-sell or up-sell your products, compare products, add discount codes, and use an advanced filter to navigate your products. Plus, if you have more than one store, you can view them all on the same account. This is great for creating localized versions of your store.

I came across the blog which had some more information about magento vs woocommerce. Check the post. http://blog.contus.c...gento-platform/

I used Bigcommerce site. After helping of Mr.Brain, I choose Woocommerce with automatic migration tool (http://litextension....oocommerce.html) to convert products, categories, customers, orders, passwords, seo urls to Woocommerce site. It saves me a lot of time and money. Thanks again.

If you ask me, I’d say they’re both equally great. It’s just they’re developed for a bit different purposes. WooCommerce is called to satisfy your needs fastly, easily and cheaply, allowing to create a small-sized store within a few hours on a $5/mo hosting. And Magento requires time and investments, but it’s capable of nearly anything, such as handling thousands of orders daily and tons of traffic. Here’s a curious comparison of WooCommerce vs Magento that you might find interesting:

Magento is an advanced, open source e-commerce solution. It requires developer implementation, and as such offers flexibility, complete customization and the ability to scale the software as your business grows.

Magento offers different solutions based on your business needs. See below for general pricing information and contact a Magento representative for a custom quote.

WooCommerce has everything you need to get your Wordpress-based e-commerce business up and running. It lets you set up an online storefront on an existing website without all the fuss and costs of e-commerce software. WooCommerce is also a completely customizable, well-supported solution, so you can create an online store that looks, feels and works exactly the way you want it to.

I have already decided on e-commerce platform. Magento completely satisfied me, I do not want to experiment with other. Recently I connected myself to the site magento 2 multi warehouse extension I liked how it was integrated. This company has me correctly set it up, there are no problems at all.
