Magento 2 Delivery Instructions and Delivery Date-:
The Magento 2 Delivery instructions and delivery date extension allows customers to enter "delivery instructions", "order comments", "delivery date", and "delivery time" during checkout. This information gets saved with the order and can be viewed in the Magento admin panel under the delivery instruction section. Configuration Option is available to exclude certain dates from the delivery date using date picker selection.
Why do we need extension?
1. Allow customers to choose date and time of delivery
The extension makes delivery easy for customers, it offers options to select the desired date and time right on the checkout page. Customers can choose the preferred delivery arrival dates and specify the most comfortable time and they can also leave a message for delivery person with comments regarding the order.
2. Admin can define week-offs and special day delivery
The extension provides the flexibility to keep week-off days as available for delivery/shipment. It allows you to block all unavailable delivery dates on the calendar and updates the changes accordingly on the calendar. This feature helps alot in avoiding people selecting the dates when you can't deliver.
3. Can set holidays and vacation period from the back-end
Configuration option is available to exclude certain dates from the delivery date using date picker selection. This would disable the set dates or period on the calendar. Hence, customers can know about it and can't select the schedule delivery option for that particular time period. This helps to enable when you are on vacation mode to disable delivery of products. The extension will help to define your shipping schedule and exclude specific days or hours when the delivery is unavailable.\
4. Delivery data gets stored with the transaction
Delivery instruction and delivery date information gets stored with the transaction which can be viewed against the order, invoice, shipment and refund in admin. Both customers and admin can view product shipment date and time in the order email and order information in the back end.
The main features of this module-:
- Delivery Instruction, Delivery date, and time slot options come during checkout.
- Configuration Option is available to exclude certain dates from the delivery date using date picker selection. This feature could be useful for excluding Bank Holidays or Christmas Period.
- Time slots can also be set in admin configuration which customers can select on the frontend.
- Title of 'Delivery Instructions' label and maximum character count of delivery instructions can be managed via system configuration in admin.
- Delivery date selection can be fully controlled from the admin panel, you can specify lead or processing time for your orders.
- You can also specify cut off time in admin panel for next day deliveries.
- Delivery instruction and Delivery Date information gets stored with the transaction which can be viewed against the order, invoice, shipment and refund in admin.
- Delivery instruction and Delivery Date options do not appear on checkout for downloadable or virtual products as expected.
