One of the most recent news on Mobile Search: Google To Warn Searchers When A Mobile URL Redirects To The Homepage

"We’d like to spare users the frustration of landing on irrelevant pages and help webmasters fix the faulty redirects. Starting today in our English search results in the US, whenever we detect that smartphone users are redirected to a homepage instead of the page they asked for, we may note it below the result. If you still wish to proceed to the page, you can click “Try anyway.”

Mostly the problem faced by E-commerce merchants as their webmaster accounts occurring the  increase in “Crawl Errors” which provide specific information about faulty redirects affecting smart-phone crawling.

However these faulty redirects are not ideal for SEO purposes. So what is the solution here to directing smart-phone users to the page they actually wanted.

Well, this is basically a problem which is facing by all merchants having mobile searches/responsive designed websites.
Google didn’t talk about mobile SEO beyond these basic mobile web best practices that have been available since about 2007. But at that time most searchers accessed the web via desktop, and only a small percentage of webmasters were concerned with becoming visible to searchers accessing the web via mobile devices.
And yet, mobile SEO is much important as we all know most of the traffic comes via mobile devices.  On the contrary, Google’s guidelines for smartphone optimization have only increased since more searchers are accessing content from mobile devices.
