Does Change in Lifestyle Help Manage Gout?

Hi Folks,

One of the most common medical conditions I see in people aged 50 or older is Gout. One of my 50-year patients visits me from time to time because of her Gout. I have been working with her for five years now, and I must say I have seen a lot of improvement in her over the past few years.

I will give credit to 3 things for the improvement in her condition, and these are her willpower, a change in lifestyle and a medication known as Febutaz 40 Tablet. But, before starting the treatment, we both first decided to know the real culprit behind her condition.

Most of the common causes of gout are:

Consumption of a lot of foods strong in purines
Overweight
Family background
A few medical disorders, such as diabetes, obesity, and kidney or heart problems and elevated blood pressure

In her case, daily intake of purine-rich food such as beef, pork, lamb and meat-based gravies and being overweight contributed to her condition. These type of foods increases uric acid levels in the blood which can contribute to gout.

So, after we ruled out all the possible reasons, we worked on curating a proper diet plan, exercises targeting bone health and medication to tackle her medical condition.

We eliminated all the food items high in purine, and packed items with high sugar content were kept at bay. I also prescribed her the right dose of Febutaz 40 Tablet, which is very useful in managing gout.

As a disciplined person, my patient religiously followed all the advice and instructions I had given her. Her devotion to making her body healthy and proper medication intake has made her reach a far better place now.

So, yes, lifestyle change played a big role in improving her condition. I am very happy for her and pray for her to be healthy for the rest of her lifeā€¦

However, it is very important that a doctor should prescribe the medication. It should be procured from a reliable pharmaceutical wholesaler or retailer to ensure the authenticity of the medicine.
